Meet the 2018 Research in Arts Scholars

My name is Isabella Goodman. I am a sophomore at the University of Tennessee and I am majoring in Graphic Design. I was born and raised here in Knoxville and I have and older brother, who just graduated from UT and twin sister who is also a sophomore here. I also have four Shar Peis who are the light of my life. I am going to be going to Paris to study Art History. For my research, I am planning on looking at all the carousels that are found in Paris and the history behind them.

I was born on July 15, 1998 and grew up in a picturesque little town called Fayetteville, Tennessee. Throughout middle and high school, I participated in many sports and clubs including cross country, swim team, soccer, Beta Club, FBLA, and student government. It wasn’t a hard choice to come to UTK. My family bleeds orange, and I have been going to games in Neyland Stadium since before I can remember. In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, kayaking, working out, and practicing mixed martial arts. At UTK, I have found a wonderful community that truly feels like home. I’m excited and overjoyed to have an opportunity for undergraduate research in Paris, France.

My name is Casey Ricketts, and I am a sophomore at UTK.  I am majoring in nutrition and planning to become a dietitian.  I grew up in a small farming community in West Tennessee, so I was excited to move to a more metropolitan area like Knoxville.  Being at UTK has given me the opportunity to have many adventures, such as participating in Ask a Scientist and AED as well as volunteering at the zoo.  My favorite adventure so far is my research in Paris.  While in Paris, I plan to study the physiques of French artwork subjects to determine if post-revolutionary dietary changes are reflected in their body styles in paintings.
